People are the heart and soul of volunteer-run organizations. Since our formation in 1988, PALS Doulas has relied upon, and thrived on, the kindness of our volunteers. They embody our values, such as integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
PALS Doulas currently has many volunteer opportunities available. Positions offer a variety of time commitments – every commitment is valuable and no commitment is unappreciated. Every volunteer is vital in helping PALS run as an organization. Our current needs range from marketing, to Board of Directors positions, PERC leadership, administrative tasks, and fundraising, to name a few. We continuously strive to grow our volunteer base. No prior experience is necessary for most of our volunteer positions. All you need is time, a willingness to learn, and the enthusiasm that goes along with being a member of PALS Doulas!
Doulas all work toward a common goal: to provide support before, during and immediately after childbirth. PALS Doulas is about much more than that, as we support our members, certified doulas, and especially our volunteers! Our volunteer opportunities allow individuals to gain experience, meet new people, develop new skills, decide on the future and development of the organization, and network within the birth community. Volunteers help us come together as a community. It is this intrinsic act of kindness given by those volunteers past and present that has helped PALS evolve to what it is today. With the skilled members of our organization, our future is bright indeed.
It is my hope that a seed was planted, encouraging our members to consider volunteering within PALS. I want to thank those who are currently volunteers; your time and effort is invaluable to our organization! You are an integral part of PALS Doulas.
I leave you all with these wonderful words, “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” ~Author Unknown
