Cassandra Muilenburg


Cassandra (or Cassie) trained as a birth doula with the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations in 2015. She is a certified birth doula with DONA and PALS and a certified postpartum doula with DONA and NAPS. In addition, she earned her Lactation Educator Certificate from the Simkin Center in 2016. Cassandra is passionate about providing non-judgmental support to families throughout all stages of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and tailors her approach to the expressed needs of her clients. She is an independent contractor with the Swedish Hospital Doula Program, and she also serves clients independently at hospitals, birth centers, and home births in King County. Cassandra has experience supporting clients planning unmedicated and medicated labors, clients with high-risk pregnancies, families expecting multiples, clients planning a vaginal birth after a cesarean (VBAC), and LGBTQ families. She has additional training in the use of rebozo, acupressure, and the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) Unit for comfort during labor. She is also an active doula and volunteer with Open Arms Perinatal Services. Before becoming a doula, Cassandra obtained her BA from the University of Washington in International Studies and French and supported families as an Early Childhood Education AmeriCorps member. In addition to working with babies and families, Cassandra enjoys good and bad TV shows, tea, road trips, and international travel. She lives in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle with her partner and two cats.
