New Certification Presentation
August 3, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

- Certification Presentation and invitation to join certification cohort: Monday, August 3rd at 1:30 PM This will be a preview of the presentation we will be presenting to the Doulas For All Washington stakeholders detailing how our Standards of Practice/Code of Ethics were updated based on feedback from Washington doulas, and why we want to be one of the certification organizations considered for states credentialing. Feedback, comments, and suggestions welcome.
The Leadership (a.k.a. Board of Directors) team has been hard at work really examining how to decolonize our organization and create a certification path that recognizes a minimum standard bar and reduces barriers to access. The Doulas For All Washington coalition has continued to consult with the Health Care Authority/Department of Health to find a pathway to doula reimbursement that meets the federal mandates without creating further power imbalances (The original recommendation was for unlicensed doulas to work under the supervision of other licensed healthcare providers who would meet the credentialing requirement for federal matching/disbursement of funds and would be able to bill on the behalf of the doula providing services). As it stands, the recommendation from the stakeholders is to pause pushing the process through and explore further a credentialing (certification) process to remove that power dynamic element without creating further barriers to serving communities.
We would like to invite you to these events (these are open to both current and past PALS members as well as community stakeholders):
